Causes of Prostate Cancer

Here are some myths associated to prostate cancer:

 Sexual Activity

One of the major myths revolving around prostate cancer is that very high levels of sexual activity or regular ejaculation increase the risk of prostate cancer. However, this is not true. In fact, several studies have revealed that men reporting ejaculations frequently are at lower risk of developing cancer of the prostate.

 Medications

A number of recent studies have revealed a link between intake of aspirin and a reduced risk of prostate cancer. The risk was known to be reduced by around 10-15%. This may be a result of varied screening practices. However, it is advised not to take aspirin for too long.

 Vasectomy

In earlier days, it was believed that having a vasectomy can increase one’s risk of developing prostate cancer. However, it has now been disproven. The best prostate surgeon will disagree with the association of vasectomy and prostate cancer.

 Use Statin

Statins (a class of drugs) is renowned for their quality to decrease cholesterol levels in the body. It is also linked to minimizing risk of advanced or aggressive prostate cancer. However, this is merely a myth. Nothing has been proved in research or studies.

 Vitamin E

As per the recent studies, it has been revealed that there are no benefits of consuming selenium or vitamin E for preventing prostate cancer.

 Alcohol

It is a myth that alcohol can increase the risk of developing prostate cancer. There is absolutely no direct link between alcohol intake and risk of prostate cancer.
